We specialise in divorce, family cases and contact with children. Martin Cray is a member of the Law Society Specialist Panel for Family Law Practitioners. We have over twenty years of experience in this area of law.

Family law cases are not like any other in law because they require the client to be supported through what is perhaps the most difficult time in their life. Family cases are clearly exceptionally stressful and if agreement cannot be achieved at a relatively early stage they can be expensive.

Our approach is to establish precisely what you wish to achieve and then move as quickly as possible to see if that can be achieved by negotiation and agreement. Once we have put a reasonable offer of settlement, whether that be in respect of divorce, family money or contact with children we then move swiftly to commence proceedings so that regardless of any intransigence by the other party the matter is forced to a conclusion as soon as possible. If necessary by an Order of a Judge after a full hearing.

The consensus within the legal community of specialist family practitioners is that family cases should be brought to a conclusion as quickly as possible, because of the awful stress during the course of the negotiation, then proceedings and also as a result of the mounting legal costs. The sooner the matter is concluded either by way of agreement or by way of a Judge’s Order the sooner the stress stops and the legal expense is brought to an end.

The firm has dealt with a very broad range of family cases from the very smallest through to some of the biggest cases to come before the President of the Family Division of the High Court. Martin Cray has been acting for family clients for nearly 25 years.

We believe that we provide a very effective and understanding service to our clients. Our speciality within family law is with the financial aspect that follows divorce cases, essentially the dividing up of the money after divorce, particularly where a business is involved.
